Hi, I hope you could help me. I'm 18 years old and go to Case Western Reserve University. On Oct. 2, I was charged with underage consumption and falsification. I went out to a bar with a couple friends that night. I just had a preliminary hearing today. The magistrate just told me I should seek legal advice and I concurred. However, I did not get to enter a plea of guilty, not guilty or no contest. Was that my plea? I have my trial/court date on the 8th of Dec. This is my first offense of anykind. I really do not have the money to hire a professional lawyer, as I am paying for tuition, so I will most likely go a the public defender. the maximum penalty for each of the crimes is 1000.00 fine and 6 months in jail. Is there any way I could get a diversion program and expunge all of this from my record? Is it possible to get away with just paying fines? Please help! thanks!
