An unclaimed property recovery agency sent a letter to my father regarding his deceased father's unclaimed stocks. I am the grandson of the deceased.
My father is on welfare, receives disability, and these stocks could render him temporarily ineligible or be seized by the state. My father has a younger brother who is mentally incompetent. The deceased also has a living brother (my great uncle).
My question is do I have any course of action to claim this property for myself? It would seem that I am a few legs down on the next of kin ladder. If so, what would need to be done?
Thanks
