tree laws in ohio

We live in a wooded area. I cut down three trees two years ago, and it has recently been brought to my attention that one of the trees was not within our property line. The man who owns the property on which the tree was located claims that according to Ohio law, we owe him three times what the tree was worth. We received $150 for the wood, and he says he will take no less than $500. He is less than pleasant, but we want to do what's right. Please advise.
