Are leases ever transferable to alternative properties. In other words, if I am in the middle of a lease term at an apartment complex, could i request to have the lease transfered to another apartment in the complex for the remainder of the term?

Sure you can request a transfer. It is to the landlord to agree to transfer the lease. Be aware that there are two kinds of transfers. One is like a "novation" where the whole lease is struck and your agreement comes to an end. The second one which is more likely is a transfer and you are a guarantor on the lease being paid until the end of the term. So be sure that the new tenants are likely to pay the rent or else you will be on the hook for the rent too.
