My jurisdiction is: California
I was recently arrested (for the first time) for a crime which unfortunately involved the use of a firearm. As a result, the county sheriff's department, armed with a signed warrant, seized all of my firearms. All but three of them are considered sporting firearms. Because of the nature of the charges, I will probably end up a convicted felon and will not be allowed to own or posess firearms. My question is, can I somehow have the firearms transferred to another owner? Can I sell them to a licesed firearms dealer? Besides great sentimental value, some of my guns are quite valuable. It would be a crime to allow the state to chop them up. Please advise me as to what steps I can take to avoid having this happen.
