Title company misfiled property deed in the wrong county resulting in property taxes being calculated based on previous owner's exemptions. Property tax office was made aware by previous owner in 2006 that property was sold in 2002 and property taxes were then adjusted for 2002 to present to reflect tax amount without exemptions resulting in $12.000 due.
What is my first step to resolve this?
Should the Title Company be responsible for the Property Tax due as it was caused by their error?
