Employer instituted new time-reporting system via computer log-in program. Now, for each one minute "late" log-in recorded from one's start time, (i.e., you're supposed to start working at 8:00 a.m. but you log in at 8:02,) an incremental amount of one's hourly wage is deducted from one's paycheck. Our previous time-clock system had a "7 minute grace" late rule, whereby one was permitted that time, if needed, and we were not punished monitarily. This same harsh wage deduction penalty is now imposed if one "logs-in" one or two minutes "late" coming back from lunch, or departing a minute early at the end of the day. Can anyone direct me to the specific laws governing this in Calif? Thanks.
