Generally whether it is a misdemeanor or felony depends on the value of the "property". Do you have a lawyer - did you ask him/her why it was upgraded? We don't have many details.

Theft By Conversion charge upgraded without notification.

Notice of charge being upgraded to a felony was provided, because you do know what it was changed. There are many reasons for such a change: new information available to the prosecutor, additional crimes committed by defendant, value of stolen property corrected, additional victims were found, etc...

Things change, so do charges. Nothing unusual or peculiar about things being changed and higher charges being levied.
Bottom line, you know, because you were told.
I suggest you discuss the entire matter with your lawyer.
