My ex and I have been divorced for 3+ years and are both remarried with no additional children. We share our daughter 50/50, get along amicably, and split most additional common expenses (music lessons, school lunch program, school supplies), each taking care of what falls on their week. I pay approximately $600/month, have our daughter on my medical plan at work and pay for her cell phone bill. This amount was calculated from our salaries before my ex re-entered the workforce full time and though I don't know what she now makes full time, I probably make 2 to 3 times as much as her ($70k vs. $25k-$35k). My work had us take a "voluntary" 20% reduction in pay and I'm under a little more financial pressure. What amounts to her receiving $300/wk just seems excessive. Though it's important to remain on amicable terms with my ex, I'd like to be paying less.
Any suggestions? Do I have any grounds for asking for a reduction?
