Summons for having wrong train ticket

Hi, I had a rail ticket for an off peak train but was on a peak train without prior knowledge. I have been sent a summons stating that I knowingly paid the incorrect fare. I intend to fight this in court as I travel 5 days a week with a legitimate ticket, and I offered to pay the full fare at the time. However, my date of birth and address are both incorrect on the summons. Does this make it invalid? Thank you

This website concentrates on the laws of the USA.
In the USA mistakes such as you describe don't invalidate the summons.
In the US a mistake such as the one you allegedly made has no legal bearing on the fact that the wrong ticket was used for the conveyance desired.

In the US I'd advise my client to pay the fine, save themselves some time.
You can always ask one of the fine UK solicitors, or if you want to upgrade, one of your excellent barristers.
Good luck.
