My jurisdiction is: Colorado

My mom has been an alcholic for years, going to AA and giving up on all of the support groups. She has gotten much worse, missing work and getting suspended for it, driving while intoxicated (although she has never gotten a DUI), and even threatening her life. She refuses to seek help. Is there any way I can force her to do so?
I have taken her to detox in the past. I've signed her up for a specific alcohol treatment program, all she had to do was show up for it, but she did not. What can I do to help her before she kills herself?

No you cannot force her sorry. However there is something you can do for yourself that might also help her. Start attending alanon meetings

You can stop enabling her, if that is what you do. You should tell her you'll only speak to her when she is SOBER.

Thanks, but I have already cut all ties with her. It's just really sad that the next time I see her will probably be at her own funeral. This reducilous system just enables people like my mom to do whatever, even if they are suicidal. My dad is moving out, and my brothers already have moved out. The only thing she'll have left is her vodka.

Thanks. I have already looked them up and they have meetings every Tuesday. I think that might at least help me not feel so horrible for not speaking to her.

If she is suicidal, and a therapist agrees, maybe you can get her into a psychiatric unit. In most states, someone can stay for 72hours until a hearing.

Don't let anyone talk down to you. You shouldn't have to be doing this. Alanon is a good start. They will have lots of information for you. Sorry you have to go through this.
