My husband has student loans that we had been put under a hardship clause because of our situation due to hurricane Katrina. Now that it is the resolution dept. they are relentless and we made a payment but sent it to the U.S. Dept. of Education and not to the recovery dept, they are returning our money and had me post date a check for the amount. I was on a conference call with both depts and a simple transfer wouldn't suffice and the recovery dept finds us delequint. If they are returning the payment is that the same as refusal of payment, and if so what does that mean regarding the remaining debt? Please I need some guidence, we are literally drowning.
