Unfortunately, if he is a cosigner he may have a legal right to the vehicle until you get a court order giving you legal possession. Get a lawyer asap. Talk to the loan company. If you stop paying they can repossess the vehicle BUT that will adversly effect your credit. Also, go ahead and contact your local police department as they may be able to advise you better. Since you are a co-owner and he disappeared without your permission you may have some recourse that I am unaware of. Good luck and keep the forum updated.
is there any recourse for recovering a vehicle that i was primary loan cosigner along with my estranged husband. he was served with a permanent domestic violence injunction and has taken the vehicle (whereabouts unknown) and i believe will not make any future payments. Or am i stuck footing the bill?
