My daughter's father has not been involved in her life and has only seen her a couple of times since she was born. He also is NOT listed on her birth certificate. When she was 6 mnths old I petitioned for child support through Juvenile court. Her "father" has not shown up for three paternity tests and refuses to have anything to do with her. She is now soon to be 4, and I am happily married to a man who loves my daughter and my daughter loves and calls "daddy". My husband has expressed that he would like to adopt my daughter and simply legalize the emotional bond they have formed. I have called SEVERAL law offices that specialize in family law.....and only found one that has said they definately handle these cases.....the one that I spoke with said they charge 1500.00 to 2000.00 for the proceeding. 2 Questions....
Does the bilogical father have any rights to object, if the parentage has not yet been established?

Is there any way to do this without the outragous lawyer fee?
