Sex Crimes, Sex Offenders Statute of limitations for statutory rape

My wife and her sister were both sexually abused at the age of 16 by their high school teacher. This occurred in Western NY in the mid 70's and they have finally come to the realization that this was not their fault, but his! We are wondering if there is anything that can be done to bring this man's actions to justice?

Depends on the class of felony/misdemeanor this teacher would be charged with.

I would highly doubt that anyone is going to want to prosecute. This is a 30 year old crime committed against, not a child, but a pair of 16 year old girls, who just now decided that this is important enough to prosecute. I doubt seriously that anyone will consider it a priority. I would suggest therapy not prosecution.
