Property Invasion, Damages, Trespass Statute of limiitations for leaving the scene of an accident

I know someone that left the scene of an accident a year ago and was wondering if that person could still get in trouble if reported to the proper authorities

That person wouldn't likely face any criminal charges but could still be sued in civil court for the value of whatever damage was done.
