Most governmental debts aren't barred by a SOL.
That said, you aren't required to speak with any debt collector.
You are always best served NOT to communicate with any debt collector in any shape, manner, or form.
More than likely the debt collector bought the alleged debt for pennies on the original dollar.

I agree. Your lack of cooperation/communication will send them to the next person on the list. The more you talk, the more they call and make demand.
Move on with your life and forget about this. Unless you are served a summons to court over it then it is a non issue.

I was surprised how quickly that dime a day added up when I was kid.
These days, I've heard of people owing library fines of $10,000, $15,000.
Former president George Washington still owes a library fine in excess of $300,000. That was five years ago. Its probably $350,000 today. Those librarians don't joke around. LOL

George Washington doesn't count. We know he was thief. Don't pay me a salary, just cover my expenses to be the General of the army. That turned out to be what 10 times more than the salary would have been?
