Assault & Battery Someone sue me for hospital fees after a fight, help!

Here is the story:

He punch me, he steped back and said "the fight is over", while he was walking away I punch him above the eye and started bleeding. He went to the hospital and supposly incurred a $2,500 hospital bill and send me a summon wanting me to pay for it. There are 2 witness that will the truth. He never called the police so there are no police reports.

This happen in Arizona.

Before I go spend money with an attorney can someone give some advice?

Consider paying the bill. He has medical reports and evidence of an assault requiring medical treatment ... that could be charged as a felony in AZ.

However, you might consider consulting an attorney first because by paying the bill you MIGHT be implying guilt and you could still be charged even after paying.
