Hi

I was charged with Simple battery and Intoxicated in public a couple of weeks ago.

I am charged for pushing a security guard and being drunk i guess. I dont remember any of it pretty much woke up in jail. I stayed in jail from Sunday morning 02AM till Monday at noon!

I am in the US on a J1 visa and im only going to be here or 18 months (going home in december) could this affect my visa? And what would my penalty be for this? Its noted as a misdemeanor. I am going to trial in 1.5 week.

Also, my left hand has been numb in most of the surface for the last 3 weeks after the cuffs because the cop put them so they kept tightening and wouldnt make them loose. Is there anything i can do about that? I can feel anything on top of my hand.

I really hope someone can help.

You are in this country as a guest.

But, under our judicial system, citizens, guests, and even illegals; all enjoy the same rights.

You are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

You don't have to say or defend anything, the state has to prove it's case against you!

All that being said, should you get convicted, you are subject to deportation.

ICE has already been apprised of your arrest and potential legal jeopardy.

I'm sure they'll contact you if the need arises.

Please know that in many countries you'd have already been deported, so obey our laws and behave yourself.

Your day in court is coming.

You'll have a fair trial and the rest will follow.
