Seeking Assistance For Non-Profit

I am trying to find an attorney to provide some guidance/assistance with establishing a properly created non-profit organization.

This organization is for my sons baseball team. My son plays on a baseball team that plays in various leagues and tournaments. These events cost money that the team parents and coaches have been paying for out of pocket. There are several local businesses in my community that are willing to contribute money for this team to be able to play, but we want to be able to do it 100% legally and have the ability to provide the business a non-profit tax ID to use for tax purposes.

This team is strictly staffed with volunteers and 100% of all contributions are spent on team expenses.

I would like to find someone that would be willing to donate a small amount of time to give us guidance to accomplish this goal. We basically need to know what documentation, costs, and processes there are for this initially as well as on an annual basis. I know there will be some costs and some recurring things that happen, like tax returns, but we need more information and some help to know where to go and what to do.

Any help is tremendously appreciated.

Thank You.

Sorry, I don't normally read this particular forum. Have you looked into SCORE?

Or, contact your county Bar Assoc. Lawyer's Referral Service. You can usually get a 30-minute consultation with an attorney for a very reasonable fee. After such consultation, you may discover you don't need further legal advice that SCORE doesn't provide.

Thanks very much. I have not heard of Score, but I will look into it now.

I really do not think I will need a lot of time from an attorney. I just need to know what needs to be done up front and on an annual basis to be completely legal. The process and the costs are what I need more than anything so I can help the org get established ASAP.
