I have a security deposit being withheld due to the description in the lease stating that it was a non-refundable deposit. The manager said that this was a redecoration fee, not a security deposit. I failed to notice this when signing the lease, but I have found that some states specify that no deposit is non-refundable.
Tennessee state law does not state that any deposit is to be considered refundable, but I was curious if any cases in the past have successfully recovered "non-refundable" deposits.
Do I have a leg to stand on, or is my money gone?
