Sadly, the Catholic Church appears to have a pedophile problem.
I'm sure some would like to blame it on celibacy.
I know several people who claim they're celibate.
The ones I know haven't been charged with child molestations.
You're right, teachers, law enforcement, parents, religious officiants, military personnel, parents, creepy "uncles", teenaged lotharios, foster parents, and the list keeps growing.

Celibacy has nothing to do with being a pedophile. Those priests were already pedophiles before they became priests and probably were abused themselves. It's a vicious cycle. They went into the priesthood either knowing they are pedophiles or found out shortly after. They abused their position of power. Also there are pastors and ministers who have been arrested for child abuse and molestation and they aren't celibate. Police aren't celibate. Teachers aren't celibate. Look at the teacher who kidnapped that teenage student of his. Researched teen marriage. Sickos.

There are perverts and psychos in all walks of life sadly. But we can't screen thoughts so a lot of them get into these positions and are never caught or caught after multiple victims.
