I'm 17 years old and I would really love to know what the true law is for moving out at this age. I know my parents are probably not going to give me permission to move out, so how do I go about moving out legally? I have a job and I have a place to go. Can I be considered a runaway if I do leave?

how do I go about moving out legally? You don't.

Can I be considered a runaway if I do leave? Yes.

When you are 18, you can move out and no one can do a thing about it. As long as you are 17, you live where your parents say you live.

FYI, I have heard all the but-what-ifs there are. Not one of them will change the above answer.

Surely you can wait one more year - time goes fast. I assume you're not being abused or anything.
