What state? Some states after so much time your civil rights are restored. Some state no. Some crimes, no.

What kind of a crime?

Some states you would petition the court. Some (Wyoming) you have to try for a Pardon through the governor or a Restoration of Rights.

It could be simple, it may already be that you can vote, or it could be a nightmare and may have to go as far as Federal court.

What state?

Felony?

Here is a link to your states code, couldn't find it on a state site:

http://michie.lexisnexis.com/tennessee/lpext.dll?f=templates&fn=main-h.htm&cp=

Click on the folder on the left, and the chapers should drop down. You are looking for Criminal Procedure. Look in there, it should tell you how to restore your rights after a conviction. Or maybe they are automaticaly restored over so many years.

You can email your states Attorney General, and ask them. They should tell you.
