my sister is has a child from a current relationship. she is not happy with it and wants to end it, but the father is threatening to take the child if she decides to do that. what rights does he have as far as who takes the child? what rights does she have? they are not married

Was paternity established? If so in most states they both have equak rights. Where does she want to take the child? She certainly is free to move out and take the child with her. I would advise againsr moving too far away. She should go to ocurt and file for custody but she needs to prepare to work out a visitation schedule with Dad. She can also file for child support.
