Consumer Law, Warranties returning a kirby vacuum cleaner

Hi. We purchased a kirby vacuum cleaner and want to return and rescind the contract. Per our sales contract, we are within the 3 days to send a certified cancellation letter. We wrote a check for the full price and want to know if we can be harmed if we stop the check. The vacuum is just too heavy, and they stuck us with their demo model (with several scratches), and left abruptly after the transaction was completed. Thank you - Mary

You can get into trouble by stopping payment on the check.

I wouldn't stop payment on the check. You can see if they honor the contract & take the vacuum cleaner back & refund your money.
