Security Deposit Return of Security Deposit Necessary?

My tenant gave me first and last month's rent when she moved in. She gave me 30 days notice on Feb.10, making 30 days to March 10th. She left on the 20th Feb. Do I return the rest of her rent from March 10 to the 31st. I have not been able to rent it yet, or do I return the days left after the new tenant moves in.

California is a very tenant friendly state.

Whatever you do, you must do by the state law.

In some parts of your state, local ordinances are also controlling.

So, make sure you check your city and county ordinances, too.
