A manager of a local branch of a large restaurant chain gave information to a local newspaper in reference to a charity event. In this article, the manager of the restaurant stated that he was the stepfather of my daughter. He did this to improve his image for the article. He is actually cohabitating with my ex-wife and has fathered another child with her out of wedlock. My ex-wife has 3 children now from 3 different men. The first two were from separate marriages. The last is from the manager's relationship with her.
How do I prevent him and the company from making false statements concerning his relationship with my daughter? I am sure they would not have a positive response from the article if he had mentioned the true facts of his life when stating his biography to the newspaper. He and his company are gaining a positive business gain from false statements regarding my daughter. Stating that he is shacking up with a woman and having a child out of wedlock would certainly not draw business to his restaurant.
Is a cease and desist letter appropriate? Can anyone help with the legal points I can address in such a letter. And what NOT to put in the letter to protect myself. My ex-wife and I have shared parental rights and no decision can made without my approval. She is not the primary residential parent; it is a shared parental situation.
Thanks
