Moral issues and ethical questions abound . . . but is it legal?

Yes. They don't have to use it for plagiarism they can use it for research.

Absolutely, they are the products of your research efforts.

If others misuse them, that is no reflection on you.

Problem is, that there are many, many competitors out there.

But, if you build a better mousetrap, they will flock to buy it!!!
