I need help. I have an 8 year old who has my last name, i'm her mom. She is not understanding why she does not have her fathers last name. Her real father left when I was 2 months pregnant wanting me to have an abortion. My husband now has been her father since she has been 13 months old. I have not heard from her biological father EVER. I would like to relinguish his rights and make my husband her father like it should be. I no child support I don't go after him, i don't even have a father on her birth certificate......Please help me get his right taken away so I never have to have his bad influences around my daughter. I believe he has been in and out of jail, put there by his own parents even, I need help and I have very little money PLEASE.....

Was dad recognised by the court as dad? Is step dad wanting to adopt her?

In some states you may have grounds to terminate his rights involuntarily, but you might need to establish them first. Ask a local attorney or the courthouse about that.

If you need to contact him, ask him if he'll do it voluntarily. In any case, you WILL need an adoption attorney to do it properly.
