I am working as an independent contractor through an employement agency and am currently working for company ssga. I am technically an employee of the agency. My HR dept at ssga requires that my agency supply infomration regarding the number of days I have worked over a period for my UK visa requirements. The agency has refused to provide this information stating that they 'cannot release it.'' I have asked them to release it to myself or my employer and they refuse. As a result my contract is being terminated because I cannot prove that I have not worked over the allowable days on my visa. (for the record I would should be allowed to work an additional 2 months).

Does the agency have any right to withhold this information?

Please help, I want to keep my job!

Unfortunately, in the absence of a law that requires them to release it, and there isn't one, it is up to them whether to release it or not.

You might want to see if a letter from an attorney will shake the information loose.
