Ok my husband has two sons by a previous marriage that ended 12 years ago. A week ago we recieved a phone call from his older son saying hhis mother reported him as a runaway so this last weekend we went to where he was staying to see what was going on. Well we found out the reason why he was reported a runway is because his mother "hit" him a few times so he stayed with a friend in Missouri by the way we live on the edge of Arkansas, and the thing that made his mom mad enough to turn him in as a runaway is a few days ago she wanted him to come home with her and she drove up in a small pickup with no tail gate she wanted him to ride in the bed, he said "No, its not safe," well that is when she got mad and reported him as a runaway. Well the county cop of Missouri and the county cop from Arkansas told him he is not allowed to cross state line, this made him have to change schools well he wanted us to get his stuff from his school and his mothers house, also he has papers saying he was an emacipated adult in the state of Missouri (he will be 18 December 12th). That is the first part now the youngest boy, he says his mother is doing drugs, abusing him, and he has said he wants to live with us, What I want to know is what can we do we don't know if it there is truth to any of this or if it is attention they are seeking. We just want to know what we can do to ensure their safety and make it to where the oldest boy can have his stuff and we wont get in trouble in the process.
