Real Estate Agent fired/non compete clause

I am a real estate agent in Indianapolis. I signed a team agreement with my managing broker, who then reneged on how I would be paid for the houses I sold for him. An argument ensued, and I was terminated for asserting the contract. At the end of the Agreement is a clause precluding me from working for another team or real estate company for a period of 1 year. If he is in breach of contract, am I free to seek real estate employment elsewhere?

I can't imagine the courts upholding a work restriction when I was wrongfully terminated and not paid a dime for my work done. I feel the team lead is definitely in breach of the contract.

Thank you for reading. Any advice or input is appreciated.

The answer to your question is maybe. One would need to read the agreement and have full knowledge of the relevant facts to assess this reliably. I encourage you to consult with a local employment attorney.
