Hello, when I was attending a college in Northern New Jersey, I was a popular shock jock at the college. One of the things I did was detailing sex offenders that were living in the area. One of the sex offenders that we focused on was a man who was living within 1000 feet of a school, even though he was convicted of solicitation and possessing child pornography. We would read off their information from the New Jersey sexual predators site, and at no point, did I encourage any form of illegal activity.

Now, several of the (student) managers had warned me that it was illegal to read off sex offenders information, even though a) I had went as far as to warn my listeners that they shouldn't use this information to commit a crime and b) the information was available online, which, I was taught during training anything that was publicly available online was fair game for discussion, especially something coming off a GOVERNMENT WEBSITE.

Now, I have to ask you, was this illegal. Because Dateline NBC had used the myspace profile of the daughter of someone who worked at the same college WITHOUT HER PERMISSION, and they were informed that NBC had the right to use her myspace profile.
