My husband and I bought a foreclosed home. We had a closing date of March 24th(we were supposed to close earlier in the month)at which time we were informed that we would not be receiving the keys after we signed all of the settlement docs. The Bank that owned the house was located in California(We are in VA) and that they would need to sign our signed settlement docs. The problem was that we were staying in a hotel and had been for the past couple of weeks since we were supposed to settle earlier in the month. So, we had to pay for another 7 days at a hotel scrambling at the last moment to locate one that had rooms available. Eventually, we were given the keys on March 31st, after repeatedly callin the settlement company to find out if we could pick up the keys. My question is... are we owed any money for the 7 day delay? Technically, we had signed all of the docs and were in ownership of the property but could not receive the keys.
