Sex Crimes, Sex Offenders question on sexually graphic text messages

I was chatting with a girl on an adult chat line (for adults 18 and older). I got her cell number and we starting texting. It turned sexual. I exchanged a sexually graphic photo of myself. On the chat line she said she was 28. When we were texting she said 27. At that point I figured she might be a minor so I asked her and she said that she was not a minor, but 27. I didn't believe her and I stopped texting her at that point. If she happens to be a minor can I be prosecuted for sending a sexually graphic explicit graphic and texts to her even though she said that she was an adult? I would think since she lied and I have evidence of a text she sent with her age, that I can not be prosecuted.
Thanks for any help.

I spoke with her today...good news she is telling the truth. I can sleep better tonight!! I won't ever do that again!!!!

Someone once sent me a sexual text. I don't go to chat rooms or dabble in porn, but for 2 weeks I kept the text from them because I was considering suing them but didn't know quite what law they had broken so I simply deleted it from my phone. I guess I could have turned them in to the state attorney. I can only imagine how much they must've sweated, wondering what I might do.

The answer to your original question, btw, is yes, you can still be prosecuted. The fact that she said she was not a minor does not give you a free pass. Would you expect her to admit that she was on the site in violation of the over-18 reg?

Why would one send sexual texts to someone they are unsure of!? The only person I have ever shared sexual text, chat email etc with I already knew quite well and had met. I then married him:D
