In North Carolina, it is illegal for an adult (someone 18 or older) to have sex with a minor (someone 16 or younger), even if the sex is consensual. Those who break the law have committed statutory rape.

NC State law requires, in addition to the applicable fines and prison time, that people convicted of certain sexual crimes (including certain instances of statutory rape) must register as sex offenders.

Do yourself a favor and wait until the day that child becomes an adult.
Yes, states tout those Romeo & Juliet laws, but its not always what it seems.
The parents of the child can tell you stay away from their child.
There's far too much to risk by dating children.
Notice I used "dating", throw in sexual stuff, and things go SOUTH much faster!

There are no laws that define or restrict "dating" its when sex or sexual contact (does not have to be physical) occurs that the law applies. You are best served finding another adult to date.

Even if all parents are ok with it, remember when you turn 18 you are an adult. This "could" cause you problems with "dating" a minor. There is too much temptation & risk involved.

Assuming her parents are okay with it, the law is okay with it as long as you keep your pants zipped and your hands in your pockets.

If her parents are not okay with it, then neither is the law.
