I understand the concept of a Community Property State (Arizona in this case), but I could not find an answer to my question anywhere online.
My friend (Kelly) is divorcing her husband (Rob) after 3 years of marriage. Kelly bought the house about 5 months before they were married and her name is the only name on the title, Rob's name was never added.
Rob's divorce response claimed that he is entitled to assets from the house. The house has never had any major revisions or money put into it. Rob was unemployed for a total of 10months out of their 3 year marriage and Kelly has always been the breadwinner in terms of income.
Is Rob entitled to any from that house? Equity? Kelly pretty much gave Rob everything out of the house including Washer/Dryer, Refriderater etc.
Kelly would rather not spend money on a lawyer unless there is some possibility that Rob could be entitled to some of the equity in the house.
