Problem with Rental Car Company

My daughter and son-in-law rented a car to take them from Grand Rapids to Detroit (MI) to leave for their honeymoon. When they got to the rental car return they were told that their car should have had a gps system in it and accused them of stealing it. The wanted to put a $400 charge on their debit card, but they didn't have enough money in the account. They eventually got it worked out because after finally getting hold of the lady who issued them the car admitted that the paperwork was incorrect, but everything took so long that they missed their flight and we had to purchase new tickets. Do we have any recourse?
 
Hard to say. Did you speak to the agency about the problem? Were you going to make the flight without problem but for this incident? Were you really close to missing the flight?
