My brother got in trouble about 5 yrs ago, and didn't go back to court on a misdemeaner theft charge in a different county. Throughout the last 5 yrs. he has been working at a resort, and moving up the corporate ladder. 6 months ago he started dated a women who's exboyfriend is a sherrif deputy, and her mom is a dispatcher. Last week my brother broke up with her. 3 days later a sherrif was waiting for him on his way home from work. The officer told him he was under arrest for a bench warrant. My brother was cooperitive, even though the officer was manhandling him, and being rude. The officer said he would do everything in his power to get my brother to move out the county. There were 2 independent witnesses. When he was booked into jail the officer went through his bag and found pita bread, oatmeal, and his laptop. The officer asked him when he stole the items, and then said he was going to search the computer for child porn.
Later the officer took the items from the backpack to my brothers place of employment and ask the manager to press charges. She said No , but the officer was persistant. She continued to say no. The officer said' "here's my card in case you change your mind."
Is this harrassment, or is the officer just a jerk?
