Hello to everyone reading my post!!!
I have a situation and I am seeking advice that is very important to my nieces lives.Ok here it goes the story is long but I am going to try to make it short.
In the year of 1998 my nieces were tooken away from their mother, my brother was out of state at the time. But eventually the mother and my brother lost their rights, the mother because she was on drugs and not visiting and my brother because he didn't visit enough and couldn't provide a stable home at the time. I on the other hand was alway there and I was going to court and to angency visits with the children everytime there was one. But they wouldn't give me the kids because I lived in what I named as a basement apartment. But is was over the furnist instead if where the furnist was but any how. I was told to take foster parent classes in order to get kin- ship adoption. I did and I recieved my certificate but I needed some work do to my place and needed to get beds for the children. At this tiem I was getting saturday visit with them for over a year. Everything was good but my place of residence. So I ask a forth cousin of theirs on their mothers side to get them beacause they were up for adoption she did. And she adopted them.
That was 5 years ago and the kids now live here with my sister and law but they are here with me most of the time. The cousin receives money for the children but she doesn't send them any. I asked here for temporay custody or just some papers so I can get them some medical attention if and when needed. She doesn't want to give anything!!! They have been living here, going to school here for almost 2 years and she has send them a total of maybe 10 outfits in 2 years. I want to go to court to get custody of them. they are 13 and 14 and they want to stay with me. She called and wants them for the remainder of the summer but I don't want to send them because they and I fear she may not let them return because she wants the money. What should I do? Do I have to got to court in NY where she lives or do I go to court in Georgia where the kids lived and went to school at for 2 years. And I do have report cards to verify that the resided here. Also she they had not heard from here since January 07 until now. And she can't have proof that she sent anything here because she hasn't on the exception of 2 packagaes. And they have not had any medical attention since they lived here can I file abandonement charges on her. The agency knows that the kids are here and they told here to send money but she hasn't.
