we hired a business to manufacture our kitchen cabinets for our kitchen renovation and were made many promises when they are to be installed. We paid $7000 deposit. We are now told they cannot do our project since they have no money. What steps do we take next?

You could file a police report. You could try and sue. If they've gone bankrupt, you won't get cabinets or money.
