My jurisdiction is: Arizona
When I hired on with my former employer which happens to be a nationwide company, I was told (and it was in the employee handbook) that I would receive a certain number of PTO (paid time off) hours per hours worked. I recently terminated and had accumulated 149 hours of PTO. I received my last paycheck with only 40 hours of the 149 hours of PTO I had earned. When I called Human Resources I was told that they were only paying out 40 hours of PTO regardless of how much was accumulated because of the current "economic situation". My question: isn't this my money that I have 'earned' and can they decide not to pay it to me? They certainly are giving the Executive Directors their bonus money...
Thanks for any info.
