Right before I found out I was pregnant, my boyfriend broke up with me. Once finding out I was pregnant we kept with the decision not to be together again. I had decided to fight him and see about getting his rights taken away, but then decided to do what's best for the baby. However, my ex has his first appointment with a lawyer in a few days and I was wondering what all could be done at this point? Is there anything the lawyer might do that I need to worry about?

My guess is that the lawyer may request a paternity test when the child is born. If the child is proven to be your ex's, then he will likely file for visitation or custody of the child.

your ex cannot sign his rights away. If it were that easy for him to be a deadbeat then everyone can do it. He really canmot do anything until after the baby is born and paternity is established. Until then stop comminucation with him if he is bothering you. He will likely get some sort of visitation if it goes to court, and you are also free to file for child support.
