How long before you are eligible for parole on a 2 year sentence in TDC? Do you get credit for time served in county jail before being transferred?
The sentence is for a felony possession of less than 2 grams of crack.

TDCJ parole is a very strange, almost elusive process.

If you're asking about parole for a loved one, you can help by building the parole packet.

If you're asking for yourself prior to being sentenced (but you know the plea deal), start building your packet before you get sentenced.

What's a packet?

I've given you a couple links that describe the process of packet building.

So, start yours today, and hand it off to a trusted associate before you take that vacation.

Parole won't be considered until a COMPLETE packet has been created and in the hands of TDCJ parole officials.

That is a very intense, arduous, time consuming, effort.

Don't fall for the lawyer trap on this one.

You can do just as much as a lawyer.

A lawyer, insofar as parole is concerned, is an extra, unnecessary expense.

Parole can be stymied by prior convictions.
That is to say, if one has an extensive "rap sheet", parole might never be achieved.
Many inmates PREFER to just do their time and get out without being "on paper".

If the person is doing the two year bit in state jail, not a prison, parole could be achieved in about six months (sometimes as little as three months).

If the person is doing time in state prison, parole might take a year (or more).
No one can predict the magic that only TDCJ knows.

Do you get credit for time served in county jail before being transferred?

Yes, you get credit for city and/or county jail time related to the offense which resulted in your conviction and subsequent incarceration.
