Parking Lot Accident East Meadow, NY

Today, i was backing out of my spot in a very small and cramped parking lot. I looked around and checked my mirrors as usual, then suddenly heard the scraping thud. There was a big sign in the parking lot ( not even sure if the sign was supposed to be there since the parking lot is so small) and there were 2 yellow barrier poles in front of the base of the sign. Instead of being fully erect and visible, the poles were bent and out of my field of vision. The only way i would of seen the poles would have been if i had gotten out of the car. Do i have any case? Do you think the parking lot owner, or the owner of the sign might be liable? The damage is roughly 1000$ dollars. Please help.
