I had taken a paternity test and i was told that it was my child and i wanted to give up my parental rights what do i need to do to do so.

What makes you think you can give up your rights? If you were asked to take a paternity test then most likely child support is going to be filed, unless the mother is remarried and wants her husband to adopt. That is the only way you can terminate rights.

You most likely will have to pay child support and have some type of placement. In WI where I reside you cannot sign off your parental rights unless there is an adoptive father waiting or some male to care for that child. This is to ensure that the woman do not live off the state and the child has secondary support. In one case a woman asked a man to sign off his rights and her father took his place. But that was an extreme case the man had abuse, drugs, and two felonies so it was beneficial to the child. Most woman will not agree to signing off rights for the fact they cannot do it alone and any extra income for diapers, day care and such is needed.
