This my first offensive of any kind. I am scared, I have never done jail time or arrest for anything. That is my biggest fear, that I will go to jail for this. I just got a letter saying I have to appear in court for parent Contributing to Truancy. I have never been i front of a judge expect when i was adopting my girls. I don't know what to expect, don't know what to plea, just scared/ any advice would help. Thank you in advice.

Mote than likely your appearance will be before a justice of the peace. They handle very low level misdemeanors, traffic offenses, and small civil matters.

You don't need a lawyer.

You can hire one if you wish.

In some vases you can ask the one be appointed to represent you.

This is nothing much to stress over.

They want to know why your child(ren) have been truant.

They want to make sure your kids go to school.

They also want money more than jail time, in some cases.

Just make sure you appear.

Tell your story and agree to fix the problem.
