Last summer "2007" I agreed to build my daugther and son-n-law a new house. It was verbally agreed to that I would charge them for my labor and for performing "General Contractor" duties. The house was about 90% complete when they decided they were splitting up. They are now in the beginning stages of divorce. I submitted my bill for the work that I done on the house and haven't heard a word from them. The ultimate owner of the house is still in question. The land was given to my daughter as a gift from her Grand dad and the deed is in her name only (listed as a married women). I understand the improvements made to the land (house) is marital assests but how do you separate the land from the house? My question is: what legal avenue do I have to get paid for my labor?
