My husband and I own our home free and clear. We've been married for thirty years, I just found out that he has been unfaithful to me. We are "trying" to work things out. He has offered to put the house just in my name to make me feel more secure about us. My question is how do we do this and what if I decide to divorce him ,how I'am I guaranteed that we still wouldn't have to split the house 50 - 50?

Putting the house in your name may not change certain things with regard to divorce but it may make any separation much more difficult for him. I'd probably take what he is willing to do but seriously think over what you really want from and with him... and you can take your time with that.

Is the house completely paid off? If it isn't, then you don't want him to be released from any mortgage obligations. If it is.. then you should be the sole owner of the house on the record.
